The Formex 4Speed AS1500 Automatic watch is a very nice looking watch from the new watch company. It uses a Valjoux 7750 movement, and is unspecified as to whether it has been modified or not, which likely means that it is stock aside from the addition of their logo to the rotor.

formex watch

It is a massive watch at 47mm, and has incredible wrist presence. Like the smaller formex however, this watch is not really a favourite of mine. It does hold appeal to the ‘hunky chunky’ crowd, and stands out several feet from your wrist (well, more like 20mm or so) but that is a lot of stand out! Watch is set up as a bullhead, so the pushers and crown are on the top. Not personally a layout that I like, but it really appeals to some people. Formex is a watch for the few, not the many.

A nice shot of the exhibition back, and shows the suspension system as well:

The bracelet is a multilink 5 row deal similar to the Breitling Pilot bracelet but does not appeal to be nearly as well made. It has phillips screws and a foldover clasp.

Hope this quick look gives you some more info about the watch and can further your decisions on making a choice!

Sometimes I get great email, with some great suggestions that I’ve had on the block, but sometimes gives me the extra motivation to work on it. This is the email I got today:

“Hi.
I love your site. It’s an incredible resource for
newbies and old timers who collect. My only request is
a data base that includes rarities and limited
editions. I know there are many that I do not know
about, and would appreciate any assist your site can
offer in the future!”

I really would like to get some of the Limited Editions up there, but there are so many and they are so hard to find examples of that I have relegated it to the bottom of the list for importance. I still have tons of other things to add to the site.. Reviews, more articles, and tons of watches that I still have not posted yet! But if you guys have some more info on limited and special editions please email me with the info!

Sinn Regulateur

Absolutely AMAZING. This watch can be summed up into 2 words, and those are them!

I absolutely love this watch. From the moment I opened the package and laid my eyes on it, I was fixated. The dial is beautiful with it’s sunburst Guilloche pattern, blued steel hands, and applied blued steel arabics. The watch is very large for a dress watch… 44mm wide so it sits with prescence on your wrist.

Sinn Regulateur

The blue Crocodile pattern Sinn Strap is very well made, It is a bit stiffer than the leather straps from Breitling which I tend to prefer, but very palettable and quite robust. The Strap is calf leather with a Croc pattern on it, not genuine Croc. Watch sits at about 10mm thick, so it is not extremely thin, but not thick either.

Sinn Regulateur

Check out that Detail!!! The watch comes with a loupe so you can look at the movement and dial with it and see all the intricacies that Sinn has modified! Very cool watch. I always find myself looking at it and not able to look away! The watch also comes with a CD Manual, not a written one. The guilloche is nicely done tho the lacquered letters look a bit lost in the pattern sometimes.

Sinn Regulateur

The Unitas 6498-1 Movement that Sinn has modified is called the SZ 04. Sinn has modified it to a Regulator configuration and has tweaked it to perform at Chronometer standards. The watch is keeping time within 2 seconds per day since I have received it. Amazingly the watch is water resistant to 100m, even with the push-down crown. It uses Sinn’s new D3 system. The movement as you can see is decorated very nicely.

Movement: 9/10

Overall Impression: 9/10

There are some people out there that are very passionate about their blogging, and they are very passionate about their friends. One fellow that posted in my blog (i did not allow users to view it, and have deleted it) wrote me this:

“You’re some sick f*****. Taking advantage of somthing that could potentially be serious, and turning it into traffic for your pointless attempt at a blog.

Rot in Hell.”

There were no asterisks in his actual message. Obviously he chose to stay somewhat anonymous, using a gmail account, and no signature to let me know how to contact him publicly in an email. My blog discusses cool new watches for the most part, and other things I find interesting to make an occasional break from the watch discussion.

First of all, I don’t know how my post makes me a sick so-and-so. I don’t even know what is going on.. I saw strange phrases in Technorati that I dont know why they are there and posted about them… I was really only trying to spread the word about Technorati to people that currently read my blog. But whatever you want to believe… I dont think your response is very mature either.

If something happened to Bryan, I hope he’s okay too… but just to go through the trouble of taking down your blog and having your fiance put up a vague message is something that I don’t normally associate with having a health problem. If i suddenly had a heart attack, I wouldn’t tell my fiance to take down all my sites… they’d just stay up, but no one would up date them. I thought someone maybe hacked it. But whatever. That’s all I’m going to say about this… Obviously the blogosphere is has some (not all) very passionate people that are very close minded about what happens outside of it.

Tune in next post for a review of the AWESOME Sinn 6100 Regulateur watch… I just got this baby and it is a HELL of a watch!

Have you guys ever heard of Technorati? Maybe, maybe not. There’s a good chance that you haven’t, since most of my visitors are not the blogging type, and tend to just be interested in high end watches. I’m not a big fan of Technorati but I like to hit the front page and scan down the list of most common hot searches… It keeps me tied in with the blogging community and lets me know who’s looking for what.

I’ve always been intrigued by the names and searches that come up in there.. for example today’s hot search is Kathy Sierra. Who is she? Who knows.. Wikipedia says she’s a game programmer that wrote some books with some other guy.. nothing I’m all that interested in.. not enough to find out why she’s on top.

A while back Tammy NYP, who was a singapore girl who somehow had a home sex video released on the internet was the hottest search… the funny thing is the video came out over a year ago. So many bloggers have tried to understand what is causing these Technorati searches to show up.. some think it is a perpetuation since when someone sees others searching, they search too. Makes sense.. I do that!

Second on the list right now is Avalonstar… some designers blog that has a message from his fiance on it right now, and the entire blog has been removed. Odd. Dunno what htat means either… and why people are all blogging about it? maybe to get exposure to their own blogs? Maybe that’s why I am doing it? dun dun dun…

No seriously though, its a weird phenomena. Other weird terms searched for include Joost, Sanjaya and Paris Hilton… i can understand Paris Hilton.. but I’ve never heard of the other two. Joost is some sort of online streaming video software. Overall, technorati is a great way to check out what is new out there and what everyone is talking about… check it out. I highly recommend it!
