Breitling

Unlike many other Watch companies out there, Breitling continues to focus on the ultra-large watch market, and why not – this is one segment of the market where they tend to dominate. And what better watch to launch this huge 50mm watch model with than the Avenger line? This new watch, the Breitling Avenger Hurricane, features many new technologies from Breitling, and what better time to announce it than in time for Baselworld 2016.

Featuring a Breitlight® case, this makes the 50mm watch significantly lighter than a titanium or steel watch, so its not as heavy as it would seem. To me it looks and sounds a lot like the “forged carbon” that AP uses in the Royal Oak Offshore. This is what Breitling has to say about Breitlight®:

Extreme performance, through the innovative use of Breitlight®, a world-first achievement on a watch case. 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than steel, but significantly harder, this exclusive high-tech material boasts a number of qualities: exceptional resistance to scratches, traction and corrosion, anti-magnetic, thermal stability, anti-allergic properties – as well as a touch that is warmer than metal and a slightly mottled effect accentuating the originality of the design.

The watch also features the new in-house B12 movement, which is a 24hr Chronograph, modeled after the Original Caliber 12 which features the 24hr manual winding lemania based movement. This new B12 is automatic, however.

From Breitling:
For those who view travel as an art of living, Breitling for Bentley has created the Bentley B05 Unitime, a worldtime chronograph powered by an innovative Manufacture Breitling movement with a patented mechanism. Thanks to its double-disc system, this instrument boasting unprecedented user friendliness enables instant reading at any given moment of the time in all 24 timezones. Upon changing timezone, simply turning the crown forward or backward in one-hour increments serves to correct all indications in one smooth gesture, with the date automatically adjusted to local time. The 24-city bezel comprises indications serving to take account of “summer” or Daylight Saving Time (DST). The dial bearing a stamped or openworked raised motif (available in black, white or blue) is adorned with an artistically sculpted globe accentuating the travel theme. The officially chronometer-certified high-performance chronograph movement measures feats accomplished the world over. It is driven by a highly original oscillating weight shaped like a wheel rim and visible through the transparent caseback. Available in steel as well as in red gold, the Bentley B05 Unitime is fitted with a bracelet or with a leather, rubber or crocodile leather strap.

Breitling finally decided to bring back the old titanium Chrono Avenger in its new incarnation – the Breitling Avenger Bandit! I think this is a great move from Breitling since there was quite a bit of pent-up demand for the ultra large titanium tool watches and the Avenger Bandit is a great update to the old Chrono Avenger.

This is a pretty straightforward release from Breitling, essentially taking the Avenger Skyland and updating that to a Titanium Case, which sheds nearly 44 grams from the weight of the watch head.

From Breitling:
The Spirit of Naval Aviation

With its 45 mm titanium case, its gray ‘stealth’ look, its ‘Military rubber’ strap and its high-performance mechanical movement, the new Avenger Bandit more forcefully than ever embodies daring feats and extreme missions.

With its 45 mm, its ultra-sturdy and light satin-brushed case, its gray dial with aviation-inspired stencil-type numerals and its high-performance movement, the Avenger Bandit embodies the world of daring feats and extreme missions. An authentic instrument for professionals, this gem of power and technicality (water-resistant to 300 m/1,000 ft) is fitted with an exclusive strap combining rubber with high-tech Military textile fiber to ensure maximum sturdiness and comfort. The entire spirit of naval aviation on the wrist.

Breitling has released a “normal-sized” Limited edition of their Navitimer 01, the one that’s 43mm. This is probably one of my favorite released from Breitling in recent times. Its a great color combo on the dial, with a sweet black rotor in the back. All that’s missing is a black ceramic case! But overall I really do like the execution on this… subtle, but different enough. It was announced by a member on our forums way back in November, but no news of it on the site until the other day, and it is already available in stores as one of our members has just recently got it.

The legend in gray and black livery

Breitling is introducing its famous Navitimer in a 1000-piece limited edition with a dark gray dial featuring black counters and a Manufacture Breitling caliber equipped with a black oscillating weight. The new face of a watchmaking and aviation legend.

Being a great classic means starting with a powerful design and being capable of self-renewal. First launched in 1952, the Navitimer handles these two aspects as deftly as a skilled pilot maneuvers his aircraft. In more than 60 years, it has established itself as a cult object for devotees of aviation and the doyenne of all mechanical chronographs produced worldwide. Alongside the flagship model with its black dial and silver counters, it also regularly adopts new and distinctive faces, such as that of the new Navitimer 01 Limited Edition. This exclusive instrument issued in a 1000-piece series is distinguished by its dark gray dial featuring a sunburst brushed finish that subtly offsets the black counters. The result is an original, technical and eminently masculine look enhanced by indications made using the “par épargne” technique against a pure silver backdrop. While the dial side with its famous circular aviation slide rule reflects Breitling’s privileged ties with the aeronautical world, the caseback provides a window onto another of the brand’s stronghold that explains its success among aviators: impressive mastery of mechanical chronograph movements. The Navitimer 01 Limited Edition is powered by Manufacture Breitling Caliber 01. This high-performance ‘engine’, entirely developed and produced in the company workshops and chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), is a guarantee of peerless precision and reliability. Echoing the special dial decoration, the oscillating weight visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback features a black coating lending an original touch. The Navitimer 01 Limited Edition is available with a steel bracelet, or with leather or crocodile leather straps in various colors. All of which represents abundant additional energy further propelling it on its legendary onward flight through time.

Breitling continues to refine its “connected watch” line, with the Exospace B55. It features their new B55 manufacture Superquartz bluetooth connected movement. Hopefully this watch won’t be loaded with all the problems that plagued the release of the Cockpit B50. I do have to say for a Quartz watch, this one does pique my interest quite a bit.

Breitling reinvents the connected watch

In creating its first connected chronograph, Breitling has applied a new philosophy placing the smartphone in the service of the watch so as to enhance its functionality and user-friendliness. With the Exospace B55, the brand reaffirms its position in the vanguard of electronics. The instrument of the future, designed for aviation professionals.
