Changing Suunto Core Battery Yourself
Posted by The Breitling Source under Suunto Watches , Watch Tips & Tricks1 Comment
I cracked open my Suunto Core and swapped out the battery myself. Had a few Criticisms on Youtube about touching the battery terminals.. some say it affects the contact, and others say you drain the cell. I have handled a lot of batteries before, but not really those mini flat cells and have never had a problem with discharge from touching the terminals, but they probably hold a lot less. If that’s a concern for you, use plastic tweezers to put the battery in. I didn’t, maybe those will be my famous last words! Anyway.. the point of the video is to let you know how easy it is.

I have a Suunto Metron which is my daily wearing working watch.
I am a land surveyor. Out doors in rough Scottish country (beautiful mind you!) but can be harsh.
I have had this watch since 2002 and it has never failed me.
Its been battered, bashed, soaked, thumped had the bezel whacked off a garden gate with such force that the leather strap burst, it’s been dripped etc etc.
….and it works fine.
Yes the aluminium case with black resin inserts moulded into it is now a little worn, like a desert nomads face, but is a fabulous watch.
I have renewed the strap around six times, so once every three years or so, and the non leather strap is better as does not get smelly.
As for the battery Life?
It last and lasts. Perhaps every four years!
I do it myself and is easy peasy with a coin, turn the notch designed for it and pop out the cap.
The battery from Suunto comes with new Cap and rubber seal which you pop back in, a small turn with the coin and bibs yer uncle!
Nice watch, big watch but light to wear.
Thanks
Chris
