Big Rolex Day-Date II – Rolex Moves past 40!
Posted by The Breitling Source under General Posts , Rolex[15] Comments
The day has finally come. Rolex has taken one of their classic Oyster Perpetual models and increased the diameter past 40. Enter the Day-Date II 41mm: Available only in Platinum, White, Yellow or Everose (Rose/Pink) Gold. Why Rolex has to called it “Everose” I don’t know… its kind of like “Rolesor” or “Rolesium”.
This new big Day-Date is only available in very expensive precious metals, and will likely cost an arm and a leg. Perhaps it will eventually trickle down into steel for the masses, but for now it is only for the worthy.. like their new slogan calls it: “The new measure of Success”.
Rolex watches have a case shape that is very wide at the lugs, which makes their watches wear quite a bit larger than they are. Even 36mm watches wear closer to 38mm or more especially with the new Datejust case. This Day-Date II has a nice chunky Bezel as well.. nice.
I really have to say that this new Day-Date II is a work of art, and is definately bringing out my interest of Rolex watches just like the Sea-Dweller Deepsea model and the Yachtmaster II released last year.

Being that Rolex has NEVER made the President (Day Date) in a stainless model, why on Earth would you think that they’ll release one now for the masses to enjoy? It’s an exclusive watch, that’s not intended for the masses. It’s for the classes. If you want a watch for everyone, go find yourself a Seiko.

There are much more exclusive watches to choose from than Rolex. If i wanted an Exclusive watch I wouldn’t buy a Rolex, everyone buys them.
“If you want a watch for everyone, go find yourself a datejust.” – That’s probably a more fitting statement.

Definitely a “new measure of success”. Just wish the DATEJUST was available in 41 mm platinum. The jubilee bracelet is more brilliant than the president in my opinion.

I’m not a fan of the Jubilee bracelet.. it looks a bit dated to me. I prefer the President, and even more so the Oyster. Ultimately I like the Masterpeice bracelets, however.

I have a lot of watchs Ulysse Nardins, Cartier, Dubey’s and a Rolex President. But if I could get a 41 in in stainless (date just) it would be great. IMO Rolex’s are just in indistructable.
