I bought the all black K29 in Puerto Rico last week. Great watch. Have a Rolex and I wear the Welder when I’m out on the town. Much more fashionable I think. Maybe I’m crazy. Love the watch!

They are actually made to wear on the left arm, just to clear out confusion. Since they carry U-Boat’s design, the crown is always on the opposite side. This was to help the submariners work in tight spots without a problem.

I am a big fan of Italo Fontano’s designs and have been looking at the U boat CAS BE, its a little outside my pricerange at present so I am looking at purchasing the welder k24. From speaking to salespersons in London my understanding is that because of the oversize nature of u boat and welder watches they both require a left hand clasp for comfort to stop the clasp rubbing on the back of your hand. It is therfore officially a lefty not righty…. like i said that is my understanding of it. Besides I acutally think it looks better on your left hand anyway.

Hi Lu.

I have to admit I was a bit concern over the PVD coating on this watch. It’s a pretty durable coating for the most part BUT a nice ding into a door frame or brush across a cinder block wall can leave some noticeable scratches. Scratches that you cannot buff out and refinish your self. That’s why I’m sticking with Brushed Stainless Steel on my watches now…

I was going to buy this watch K24 for my husband for his bday but after reading the post now I don’t know. Will black scratch easily???? This would be an everyday watch for him, so if that is the case then I would have to consider another watch.

Thanks for the info on the Welder place of assembly. Good to know. Have you seen the new K28’s and 29’s? At least an 8.5 on the Drool-Factor scale.

Yes, I kept both the K23 and K24 for less than a year. The K23 I regret heavily for selling. I had purchased other watches so I had to financially fund them. Mind you if I ever come across another K23 I’d snatch it!!
